As I approach the fifth year of development of the first Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) at Soka University of America (SUA), located in south Orange County, CA, the office serves as the anchor of the institutional research infrastructure and research development. Having the responsibility of establishing a sustainable research enterprise and maintaining cultural awareness is an instrumental role in leading organizational change. As a transformative change agent, daily I support faculty and promote undergraduate research by increasing research participation all while also serving in the capacity of a mentor and role model to student learners of all ethnicities and cultures.
