Migration of Identity and Anti-Immigration and Pro-Immigration Parties: Parties, Politicians, the Media, and Characterization of Immigrants in South Africa
Political party mobilization is overlooked but is critical for the emergence of anti-immigration attitudes in Sub-Saharan Africa. Parties seeking to pass anti-immigration legislation are as likely to benefit from and seek to mobilized anti-immigration sentiment through the media as mobilization during elections on which the literature focuses. This paper looks at the case of South Africa.
