Lamees Assayed Fadl

Lamees Fadl received her M.A degree in comparative literature from Cairo University. Her teaching career started in Egypt in 2003, where she was a university ESL instructor. At CUNY, she teaches Arabic language and literature. Fadl is the Arabic language editor of Otherness, the online students' magazine at LaGuardia Community College.

 

May Ziadah: The Voice of an Arab revivalist Poet and Feminist

 

May Ziadah emerged during the epoch of the revival enlightenment of modern Arabic intellectual life and literature. This paper reveals Ziadah’s social role as a feminist and activist, her proficiency in creative writing, and her capacity to adopt European themes to suit Arab readers. This study also aims to translate her anthology Fleures de Rêve for the first time into English.
