Isaac Andakian

Kennesaw State University

 

Isaac Andakian is a Ph.D. student at Kennesaw State University. His research interests include the Middle East and North Africa, the Arab Spring, Violence, Mass Mobilization, Youth, and Counter-Terrorism. Before his graduate experience, Isaac worked for sixteen years in public and private sectors in Lebanon, the United States, and the Cayman Islands.

 

The Failure of Liberal Peacebuilding in Lebanon: What is the Alternative?

 

By using liberal peacebuilding and Galtung’s structural violence theories, this paper discusses the failure of the liberal peacebuilding approaches in Lebanon in light of three events, including the October 2019 uprising, the Beirut Port explosion on August 5, 2020, and French President Macron’s statement in August 2020 about the failure of the Lebanese political system.
