Contested Traditional Leadership and the Welfare of Villagers

Does contestation in traditional leadership affect the welfare of villagers? This study explores this question by focusing on the distinction between local public goods and private goods. The original surveys with traditional leaders, their ruling family, and the secretary show that competition has varied effects on villagers' welfare.
