Robert Steele is the Jahangir and Eleanor Amuzegar Postdoctoral Fellow in Contemporary Iranian Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He holds a PhD in Arab and Islamic Studies from the University of Exeter.

 

Two Kings of Kings: Iran-Ethiopia Relations under Mohammed Reza Pahlavi and Haile Selassie

 

This paper examines the relations between Pahlavi Iran and Imperial Ethiopia. It examines what drove the Shah and Haile Selassie to pursue this relationship and what was the significance of the Horn of Africa to the Shah’s global aspirations.
