Yasmine Zarhloule is a DPhil student in Middle Eastern studies at the University of Oxford, St Antony's College. Her focus is on the post-independence state building processes, regional integration and border conflicts in the Maghreb.

 

Understanding bilateral relations in the Maghreb: A border perspective.

 

This paper examines bilateral relations between Morocco and Algeria through nationalism and the Sand War 1963.It argues that the border conflict strengthened and sustained narratives of rivalry through physical, emotional, and intellectual borders.
