Jean D. Avenel is professeur des universités, dean of the school Administration et échanges internationaux, Université Paris. He also is the president of the French Commission of Military History. Prof. Avenel holds a Ph.D. in economics, finance and a Ph.D. in history. He has written nine books related to military history.
The First Humanitarian Intervention in Modern History
This paper is about the European intervention in Lebanon in 1860-61. It explains how this humanitarian intervention helped ending the civil war and establishing a new political system in this country.
