Sally Michael is the president and CEO of the California Assisted Living Association (CALA), the trade association representing the interests of California’s assisted living, memory care and Continuing Care Retirement Communities through regulatory and legislative advocacy, as well as education and information.
Ms. Michael joined CALA in 2000 and has over 30 years experience in not-for-profit association management. She is responsible for CALA’s day-to-day operations, implementation of the association’s strategic plan and provides oversight to all policy and programming functions. Ms. Michael works closely with CALA’s board of directors to ensure the operating environment continues to allow residents and their family members the benefits of resident-centered, personalized care.
During Ms. Michael’s tenure at CALA, the association has grown steadily to over 800 members, increased its influence in educating its members’ professional administrators and managers, and enjoyed numerous, critical successes in the public policy arena. In recognition of the growing workforce challenges, CALA has expanded its efforts to impact this area, as well.
Ms. Michael currently serves on the board of directors of Argentum.
