Dr. David  Hanscom, MD – Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, Author

David Hanscom practiced complex spine surgery for 32 years, mostly in Seattle, WA. Through his 15-year ordeal suffering from chronic pain (17 different symptoms), he experienced a depth of misery he calls, “The Abyss.” He also discovered how wonderful life could be on the other side.

He quit his surgical practice in 2019 to bring neuroscience-based healing principles into mainstream consciousness. His most recent effort is The DOC (Direct your Own Care) Journey, which presents the action plan of his book,  Back in Control: A Surgeon’s Roadmap Out of Chronic Pain. By implementing what is already known, chronic pain is a consistently solvable problem.
