
Garrett Harding is the Associate Director of Community Outreach at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah (U of U). In this role he plans, implements, evaluates, and directs HCI’s community outreach activities, working in collaboration with community partners to align institutional priorities and build outreach and engagement capacity for projects that reduce and address the cancer burden in Utah and the broader Mountain West. Additionally, he coordinates HCI’s 36-member Community Advisory Board, assists with local and state legislative affairs, and manages the Community Outreach and Prevention Education program – overseeing a team of Community Health Educators who connect HCI’s education, clinical, and research programs to underrepresented and underserved communities. Mr. Harding earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public health from Brigham Young University. He is a trained patient navigator, certified tobacco cessation facilitator, is fluent in Spanish, and is passionate about health equity and community engagement. Outside of work he enjoys cooking, reading, playing tennis and golf, hiking, and advocating for social justice and equality.
