Five years later, 1981, he moved to Myrtle Beach South Carolina to live in warmer weather and to practice Developmental Optometry. He started in an associate practice in 1981 and then in 1985 opened a solo practice for general optometry and vision therapy. In 2005 he joined a primary care practice to continue to practice general optometry and opened a separate Vision Development Center which he currently practices. Through the Vision Development Center, he works with: Vision related learning difficulties; Amblyopia and Strabismus; developmentally delayed; and visual rehabilitation for stroke and brain injury. In 1989 our family met with a tragedy, Sandy was involved in a car accident and died of internal head injuries. This changed the family quite considerably. We had a lot of help from our Church and scouting families, it does take a whole village to raise a child. They did turn out well: Andrew, earned his Eagle Scout award in 1997, the year he graduated from high school. He graduated from Winthrop a few years later and then joined a computer programming firm. His company has sent him around the world developing their product. He now lives in Seattle, WA. Recently he was in charge of a programming team at Boing Aerospace. He is married and has two children. Jennifer, wanted to fly, so after graduation from high school attended the Conway flight school and at the age of 18 earned her flight instructor license with an instrument rating and was essentially the youngest to ever graduate from that school with an instrument rating. She taught flying lessons through Myrtle Beach General Aviation for four years while attending Coastal Carolina University. After graduation she joined the Navy to fly helicopters. She is married and has two children.
