Laura Bilbao

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Laura joined Texas Tech University in 2007. She has a B.A. in Business Administration and is a certified Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA). Currently, she is working towards her M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, combining Public Administration, Higher Education, and International Affairs. She has 10 years of experience at the Office of Research Services in Pre-Award and over two years of experience at the Office of International Affairs’ unit of International Grants and Partnerships. Since becoming part of OIA, international research at Texas Tech University has grown considerably, and it is her vision to continue contributing to its development by targeting large initiatives that focus on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. To achieve this, she is looking forward to creating connections with other research administrators, sponsor agencies, and researchers, to continue developing research in the fields of Global Health, Food Safety, Climate Change, and Water Conservation. Laura lives in Lubbock, Texas with her husband, two children, her dog Bruno, and two guinea pigs. She enjoys camping, hiking, salsa dancing, reading fiction, and singing karaoke.
