Keisha Allen-Smith began her teaching career in 1999 and has had the opportunity to work at the primary, middle and senior school levels in Bermuda. During this time she has served as a classroom teacher, Head of Mathematics Department and is currently Director of Staff Development and Instruction at The Berkeley Institute. In this role, she is tasked with offering professional and personal development opportunities that grow and develop teaching and leadership skills to ensure high quality instruction and best practices are maintained.
Her journey afforded her the opportunity to gain experience working as an AVP Relationship Manager in Corporate Banking however a passion for teaching and learning led her back to the education field. That same passion for education moved her to start a tutoring business and she is the proud owner and Director of Target Learning which offers diagnostic assessments and academic coaching programs for students. Their aim is to empower students to become confident, independent learners who are prepared to be successful in the 21st century. Their services also include professional development for teachers, parent workshops, mindfulness programmes, corporate workshops and educational consulting.
Keisha’s educational background includes, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Georgia State University and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Science Education from Wheelock College. In 2016 she completed the Mindful Educator Essentials Course which certifies her to teach mindfulness as a tool for reducing stress and anxiety, improving focus and productivity and to regulate emotions. In her free time she enjoys walking and practicing yoga.
