Gretchen Oltman is an author, attorney, and educator. She works as an associate professor of interdisciplinary studies at Creighton University where she leads a program for graduate students pursuing degrees in leadership. Prior to this she was a high school English teacher. She holds a law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law, a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Louisville, and a bachelor’s degree in English.? She is licensed to practice law in Nebraska and to work as a teacher and administrator for grades 7-12. She is the author or co-author of Violence in Student Writing: A School Administrator’s Guide, Law Meets Literature: A Novel Approach to the English Classroom, The Supreme 15: Cases and Study Materials for the AP Government and Politics Exam, The Themes that Bind Us: Simplifying U.S. Supreme Court Cases for the Social Studies Classroom, and Prepare to Chair: Leading the Dissertation and Thesis Process. She regularly presents for ASCD, the Education Law Association, and the National Council for Teachers of English.
