Dr Theresa Spaan-Burke is Innovation Director at IBS Precision Engineering and has over 20 years’ experience in research and commercialization of ultra-precision technologies. Following a career at Cambridge University, Toshiba Research Europe and defence experts QinetiQ, from 2004-2011 she was Chief Executive of the European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology. Here she managed its transitionfrom start-up to financially successful and well-regarded company. She has led multiple European and nationally funded projects and has over 40 publications in the field of nanotechnology and precision engineering. From 2009-2010 she led the international team of national metrology institutes defining a common European Strategy for Nanometrology 2020. With a master’s in Global Business from Oxford University, she is responsible at IBS for the development and deployment of next generation technology and products.
