Dr. Lisa Ackerman BVSc (Hons) MVS (Small Animal Practice) Cert IV – CAS (Professional Dog Training) is DELTA accredited director, Veterinary and Companion Animal Behaviour Service (VCABS) in Brisbane, Australia, and Queensland regional representative for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Australia. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2004 and has since developed a range of experience in small animal practice, emergency medicine and critical care, as well as within the Australian government’s Veterinary Services and Animal Welfare sectors associated with drug regulation in the thoroughbred racing industry.
Dr. Ackerman completed her postgraduate master’s in veterinary studies at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia and her postgraduate study in behavior medicine at Sydney University under the tutorage of registered veterinary specialist in animal behavior, Dr. Kersti Seksel.
Dr. Ackerman provides professional services which include veterinary behavior consultations for companion animals, group training programs (baby puppy classes, senior puppy classes, foundation skills, adult dog training, and life skills dog training classes), and private (in-home) behavior training for companion animals. Her vision is to help humans understand and implement their role as a GUARDIAN for their companion animals by proactively enriching the lives of their companion animals through observation, understanding, empathy and intervention.
