Mara Velez, M.A., CPDT-KA, is the executive director of the Shelter Playgroup Alliance of Oakland, California. Mara was a shelter behavior consultant where she designed and implemented shelter behavior and enrichment programs, from volunteer training to playgroups. Mara has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and completed all of the course work for a doctorate, and also completed KPA, LLA, and other animal-related programs.
