Keith Wallace is a Supervising Engineer for the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the Chief of the Outreach and Engagement (O&E) Section in the Sustainable Groundwater Management Office (SGMO). SGMO is responsible for carrying out the dual roles given to DWR by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA): (1) regulating the sustainable management of groundwater and (2) providing ongoing assistance to the local agencies tasked with sustainably managing groundwater basins. As the O&E Section Chief, Keith leads SGMO’s Planning and Financial Assistance Programs which include Facilitation Support Services, Groundwater Sustainability Agency Engagement, and the Sustainable Groundwater Management Planning and Implementation Grant Programs. Keith has more than 19 years of experience in water resources engineering, planning, and management. He began his career with Montgomery Watson (now Stantec) after graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2000 with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. Keith came to DWR in 2010 and prior to joining SGMO in January 2018, he spent six years as the Project Manager for DWR’s Integrated Regional Water Management’s Implementation Grant Program.
