Betsy Olivanti

Betsy Olivanti joined the NE MN SBDC in 2015 and serves many small rural communities in the region. She brings with her a background in manufacturing, engineering, leadership, and small business/nonprofit management. Betsy graduated from Mesabi Community College with an Associates of Science and Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. Following, she worked in manufacturing as a design engineer, production manager, and Engineering Team Lead where she developed and led several Lean projects in the manufacturing and test process areas. When the facility closed, she went on to complete her Master’s in Business Administration at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following the completion of this degree, she was employed as the Executive Director for the Mesabi Range College Foundation until accepting the position of Business Consultant with NE MN SBDC. Betsy continues to blend her background in Engineering and Business Management for SBDC clients through technology commercialization, business planning, and various local projects supporting economic development and entrepreneurs. As an electrical engineer, Betsy has an affinity for numbers so, she naturally gravitates towards financial analysis and projections with SBDC clients. Thus, the Financial Projections toolset is something she loves to share with other consultants. Betsy has presented at America;s SBDC Conference since 2016.
