Walter  Staib


A third-generation restaurateur whose career began in Europe’s most prestigious hotels and restaurants with more than four decades of culinary experience, Chef Walter Staib currently is proprietor of City Tavern in Philadelphia and President of Concepts By Staib, ltd., a food and beverage consultant company, to which he has opened more than 650 restaurants worldwide. In addition of having authored seven cookbooks, he is best known as host of A Taste of History, which received the 2012 James Beard Foundation nomination for Best TV Show and has been awarded Fifteen Emmy awards, including three best hosts. Staib has also made numerous appearances on local and national cooking shows, such as 60 Minutes, the Today show and the Food Network’s “Best Thing I Ever Ate” and “Iron Chef.” Originally from the Black Forest region of Germany, Chef Staib has called the Philadelphia area his home for decades.
