Chef Shawn Loving has been the Department Chair of Schoolcraft College’s esteemed Culinary Arts Program located in Livonia, Michigan since 2007. Along with instructing core classes in the curriculum, Chef Loving oversees sixteen faculty members, four of which are Certified Master Chefs. He began his career in numerous acclaimed Michigan restaurants before becoming a chef for the Walt Disney Company and Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, and Euro Disney in Marne de la Valle, France. Some of his most notable achievements include: Corporate Executive Chef at Race Rock International in Orlando, Florida; proprietor and chef at the praised Loving Spoonful in Farmington Hills, Michigan; personal chef and in-flight caterer for the Detroit Pistons team; Executive Chef for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Olympic Basketball Teams in Beijing, China and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; as well as for the USAB Men’s Team in Istanbul, Turkey and Barcelona, Spain and both Shanghai and Shenzhen, China for the 2010, 2014 and 2019 FIBA World Championships.
In addition to Chef Loving’s career achievements, he has won numerous awards and medals from the American Culinary Federation placing gold in multiple competitions. His most recent—and highest—honor was to earn the Certified Master Chef designation. Chef Loving is now one of 68 CMCs in the nation. Beyond all of these accomplishments, the true essence of Chef Loving is his never-ending pursuit to give back to the community and mentor young culinarians.
