Dave Fear Jr.

David is a 17-year veteran of the insurance business, beginning his career in 2003 working in his family’s insurance agency, Fear Insurance Services and later for an agency representing Nationwide Insurance. He has strong background in both Life/Health and Property/Casualty insurance, with specialization in small group and commercial lines coverage for businesses.
 
In 2013 he became a certified insurance agent for Covered California and led his agency in individual sales during the initial open enrollment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). His background in both insurance and tax preparation served him well as he counseled hundreds of individuals and families as to how to enroll in the Exchange and obtain premium subsidies under the ACA.
 
In 2014, he moved over to the General Agency side of the business, becoming a broker sales consultant for Shepler & Fear General Agency.  Working from his Roseville, California office, David works throughout California in assisting agents in traditional and exchange-based health programs as well as with alternative funding programs including Health Reimbursement Arrangements and Self-Funded plans. He is Certified in Advanced Self-Funding through the National Association of Health Underwriters.
 
In 2019 David became part of Dickerson Employee Benefits, an Alera Group company, when Shepler & Fear merged with Dickerson. His role continues as a broker sales consultant in Northern California and Nevada, working with more than 500 insurance producers and their support staff.
 
Professionally, David has served on the executive board of the California Association of Health Underwriters for nine years as Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Legislation and as President in 2018-2019. He is also a former President of the Sacramento Association of Health Underwriters.
 
Personally, David is a 30-year resident of the Sacramento area, having attended Sierra College in Rocklin, CA.  He is married with five children and resides in Lincoln, CA, a suburb of Sacramento. He is an active member in his community, serving on local city and school boards and advisory councils as well as service in his church.
