Antoinette Mallett

Antoinette “Toni” Mallett, an accomplished family and community engagement professional, serves as the Family Engagement Specialist for the Office of Great Start with Michigan’s Department of Education.

As a family engagement manager, with a locally and nationally known nonprofit early childhood agency, she managed 13 family coaches and served over 420 families throughout the city of Grand Rapids, MI. Toni also served seven years with Grand Rapids Public Schools as a Family Support Specialist for over 900 students and their families. Toni has also served as a site coordinator for T.E.A.M. 21’s after school and summer program for over 120 families within the city of Wyoming, MI.

Toni has also served as a certified long-term substitute teacher and at-risk paraprofessional while attending her undergrad studies at Western Michigan University (W.M.U.) where she obtained a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in social work. Toni has also earned an M.Ed. from Ashford University, where she specialized in family and community services.

Currently, she is attending Abilene Christian University, where she is in the process of obtaining an Ed.D. in organizational leadership, with a concentration in positive leadership. Toni is also the Vice-Chair of the board of Meaning in Colors, a nonprofit that serves individuals & families experiencing homelessness. Toni is a member of You Beautiful Black Women (Y.B.B.W.), with the W.M.U. Chapter. She is a wife and mother of one biological son and five step-children.
