Julia Brazier

Julia Brazier has been a mentor for Auburn University Family Child Care Partnerships for 10 years. She has over 30 years of experience as an early care/education professional, 2 as a family child care provider. Julia has 14 years of experience in administrative positions serving, training, and mentoring family child care providers. She also served as the director of child care programs at the Bessemer Legacy YMCA for 5 years, overseeing the summer camp and after-school programs; managing and training child care staff; designed and executed preschool classroom curriculum in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices. Julia is an activist for social justice for all children as evidenced by her status as a 2018-2019 Children’s Defense Fund Child Defender Fellow. She has presented at national, state, and local conferences, including NAFCC and NAEYC, on topics related to anti-bias and diversity. Julia is Board Chairwoman of the 501c3 nonprofit ATL Parent Like A Boss, Inc. whose mission is to enhance generational literacies through play in underserved African American communities. Parent LAB is working intergenerationally to develop a repertoire of culturally-sustainable, peer-facilitated interactive games that extend existent literacy practices. Julia has a degree in International Studies from the Ohio State University.
