Joe Perreault has been involved in family child care leadership roles at the state and national level for over 40 years. For NAFCC, he served as Chair of the National Conference from 2012-2014 and a member of the Accreditation Council from 2008 to 2014 and served as Chair from 2011 – 2014. He is a member and Chair of the Public Policy Committee of the Professional Family Child Care Alliance of Georgia (PFCCAG) since 2011. As part of his public policy work in GA he is a member of the Family Child Care Marathon Project, a coalition of five organizations attempting to lessen or remove local barriers (zoning, business permit, fire department, landlord, homeowner association) to starting or operating a family child care home. The proposed workshop will discuss the strategies and accomplishments of the FCC Marathon Project at the city and county level and then discuss states who have passed “override laws”.
