DESCRIPTION:Having participated in the 40th and 50th anniversary conferences, it is no small thing to present at the 60th. “Building a Legacy” coincides with a desire, in my 73rd year, to communicate effectively about the universal significance of breast milk and breastfeeding. I dedicated my 2005 book (The problem with breastfeeding, Hale) to the seven Founding Mothers whose compassion, vision and faith radiate in the smiles of three generations of mothers and children in 70 countries. Today, I conclude that breastfeeding is neither a woman’s issue nor a man’s issue, but a human issue of fundamental importance to us all.
