Baltimore is a big city whose charms invite a deeper look. Here, students discover global tastes and world-class art, unique neighborhoods, opportunities to make a difference, and a dynamic cultural life shaped by the energies of the 160,000 college students who study and work in this great college town. As an organization, it’s our job to connect the regional colleges and energetically work to attract, engage, and retain students, our community’s next citizens and leaders.

We are excited to introduce you, virtually, to our programs and incredible Collegetown member institutions, described below.

Since 1900, Coppin State University has been inspiring students from Maryland and beyond to achieve greatness in and out of the classroom.

With a proud history, colorful traditions and deep community roots, Coppin State students and faculty are spreading Coppin pride far and wide, giving back to surrounding Baltimore communities, winning prestigious awards and much more.

Situated on a beautiful 287-acre wooded campus, and home to both undergraduate and graduate students, Goucher College is a private, liberal arts college dedicated to global education, social justice, and innovation. We designed our curriculum to empower students to be their own academic entrepreneurs, giving them both the tools needed to tackle society’s most pressing issues and take on the jobs of the future.

At Johns Hopkins University, we embrace learning through exploration and discovery. Academic freedom allows undergraduates to have ownership over their curriculum and pursue the topics that matter most to them. Students learn through research, internships, and other hands-on opportunities that put their knowledge to work in practical ways.

Since its founding in 1852, Loyola University Maryland’s time-tested, distinctly taught Jesuit approach to education has been giving students the tools and developing the traits they will need to learn, lead, and serve in our diverse and ever-changing world.  Our students graduate ready to meet the complex demands of today and to anticipate and adapt to the needs of tomorrow.

For nearly 185 years, top-ranked Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) has assembled some of the most talented students and faculty from across the nation and around the world in a creatively energized, intellectually stimulating, learning environment. MICA’s programs balance challenging studio practice with rigorous liberal arts coursework and are marked by a commitment to developing creative vision, innovation, leadership, and social responsibility.

In 1895, our founders built an institution to open doors for women and knock barriers down – and we’ve been knocking them down since. As society has evolved, so has Notre Dame of Maryland University. Today, NDMU offers certificate, undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs for women and men in addition to Maryland’s only women’s college.

Stevenson University, located in the heart of Maryland just north of Baltimore, offers an innovative education that combines a traditional liberal arts education with extensive career preparation. Stevenson combines the best features of a liberal arts college—small classes, a broad perspective, and a thorough grounding in writing, analytical, and technology skills— with specialized, real-world professionalism that translates to an above-average job placement rate.

Towson University offers students the best of both worlds. You’ll find the academic programs and exceptional faculty typical of a large university coupled with the close-knit community and personalized approach of a small college. TU’s wide range of extracurricular activities contribute to a dynamic student experience where you can pursue diverse interests and cultivate undiscovered talents.

UMBC, a selective public research university, combines the traditions of the liberal arts academy, the creative intensity of the research university, and the social responsibility of a public institution. We are known for integrating research, teaching and learning, and civic engagement so that each advances the others for the benefit of society.
