The On Demand for the 30th Annual APSNA Scientific Conference will close 6/30/2021 at 4:00 PM CDT
This conference program has been developed through a call for abstracts and peer review process informed by past conference evaluations, forum discussions, strategic initiatives and learning outcomes as outlined below. Upon completion of the conference, the learner will be better able to:
- Explore opportunities for pediatric surgical nurses to infuse theoretical and clinical knowledge into administration, education, practice, research and policy.
- Provide opportunities to promote the advancement of pediatric surgical nursing.
- Create avenues for networking and mentoring among pediatric surgical nursing colleagues.
- Optimize patient care through exposure to innovative research and leading evidence-based practice.
- Acknowledge the importance of collaborative and inclusive pediatric surgical subspecialty practice.
On behalf of our Board of Directors it is my great privilege to welcome you to APSNA’s 30th Annual Scientific (and first virtual) meeting. This year I would like to take the opportunity to highlight the conference booklet. Now in the third year of publication you will find essential conference details provided in a concise, easy to follow online booklet.
We sincerely hope you enjoy this year’s virtual conference offerings. We are excited to bring you a wide variety of presentations ranging from topics such as Diagnostic Tools for Necrotizing Enterocolitis to Narrative Medicine. We have an exceptional panel of poster and podium presenters who will discuss the latest developments in pediatric surgical patient care to enhance and inspire your practice. In addition to the main conference agenda, for the first time we will be offering concurrent sessions focusing on APN Practice and Perioperative Care. You will have the opportunity to meet with Corporate Sponsors in the industry whose up to date products will help you stay current in your practice. With all of these activities we strive to fulfill our
VISION that we will be the leading authority for the nursing care of pediatric surgical patients and
MISSION that we are the voice that shapes pediatric surgical nursing through advocacy, collaboration, mentorship and leadership. Based on a foundation of research, education and innovation, we will transform care delivery for pediatric surgical patients.
Please join us virtually to network, learn from the experts, share your stories, and meet new friends.

Please note that materials are posted to the APSNA virtual conference site after they are received from the presenters. Not all sessions may have handouts. After the conference, the presentations will remain online for the duration of the on-demand period.
APSNA offers its conference evaluation in an online format. The online evaluation can be completed during the conference or at any point during the on-demand period.
The on-demand period is a period of time after the live conference where one is able to purchase portions of the conference material for contact hours. There will be no opportunity to chat with the exhibitors. Participants will receive their CE certification immediately when they submit their evaluations online.
We encourage all attendees to complete this evaluation regardless of whether or not they are seeking CE credits.
Conference evaluations will be available for completion online until June 30, 2021. There will be an additional fee for those who request to have their certificates provided after the evaluations have closed.
This program is not yet approved for contact hours. Conference organizers plan to
request 16 NAPNAP CE contact hours (for Annual Conference) per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Continuing Education Guidelines. Total number of approved credits yet to be determined.
This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to
request 16 AAPA Category 1 CME credits from the American Academy of Physician Assistants - Physician Assistant Review Panel. Total number of approved credits yet to be determined.
Pharmacology and Trauma credits yet to be determined.
For those registrants needing Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, a CME processing fee of $50 is charged in addition to the annual meeting registration fee. To enroll for CME credits, check the appropriate box on the annual meeting registration form and include the CME processing fee.
CME registration must be completed before the annual meeting.
For most nursing professionals (including advanced practice nurses), the CE contact hours awarded by NAPNAP are sufficient for licensure and certification. These contact hours are included with your conference registration. However, if your state's nurse practice act requires continuing medical education (CME), you may elect to receive these during the registration process for an additional fee.
Continuing medical education (CME) refers to a specific form of continuing education that helps those in the medical field (most commonly physicians and physician assistants) maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field. If you are unsure, read your state's nurse practice act to figure out what type of programs will count toward your license renewal prior to paying the additional fee.
Exhibit Booths are opened for the duration of the two-day conference with opportunities to chat with the representatives.
During the on-demand period (period of time after the live conference where one is able to purchase portions of the conference material for contact hours), there will be no opportunity to chat with the exhibitors.
